BARRY Male Voice Choir`s visit to Dunkeld, Scotland, can only be described as perfect in every way.

The spectacular local scenery with its towering trees and sparkling salmon in the River Tay remained bathed in sunshine for the length of the stay.

Two concerts for local charities held in the magnificent mediaeval cathedrals of Dunkeld and Dunblane were well attended by appreciative audiences. The distinct flavour of Wales served by the choir was enjoyed by all.

The choir's feet are now firmly back on local ground. Attention is now being focused on the choir's annual concert to be held in June.

Choir secretary and soloist Richard King explained: "This year's concert will feature the biggest choir staged for some years. It will include more than 20 new recruits who are eagerly looking forward to this gala occasion. The concert will also feature Ben Tarlton a very talented cello soloist, a former pupil of the Yehudi Menuhin Music School who has already performed in prestigious events at venues including the Tonhalle in Zurich and the Wigmore Hall in London. Ben is currently a student at the Guildhall School of Music in London."

Barry Male Voice Choir`s annual concert will be held at St Helen`s Roman Catholic Church, Wyndham Street, Barry at 7pm on Friday, June 3. Tickets are £8 and are available from choristers, at the door or by phoning 01446 402398.

Children are free.
