THREE members of Barry Round Table took part in a Seriously Gung-Ho 5K inflatable obstacle course in Cardiff, to raise money for BBC Children in Need.

Round Table is a partner of the BBC Children in Need (CiN) and members across the country annually raising hundreds of thousands for the charity.

Barry Round Table already has fundraising plans for BBC CiN in November – the charities main fundraising period, but decided they wanted to get involved earlier and maximise their support.

Chairman Dave Beadle encouraged other members to join him in the run on Saturday.

He said: “It was easier to convince the guys to join me in the run, than the actual event. I’m no athlete, but this event alone has inspired me and a few others to take steps towards being healthier and that can’t be a bad thing.”

In addition to fundraising and trying new activities, Round Table offers camaraderie and this was seen at the weekend with new member Barrie Dyer stating: “The guys supported and encouraged me all the way around. I’ve definitely been motivated to #DoMore.”

The Barry Round Table members donated £100 to Children in Need and with support from family and friends, they’ve raised a total of £183.

“We would loved to have got to £200,” concluded Mr Beadle, “as it’s such an amazing charity. If anyone would like to help us get to our target please visit justgiving.com/Barry-Table.”

Round Table is an active organisation for men aged 18-45 and is focused on doing activities, community support and making a difference. Barry Round Table has lots of activities and community events in the pipeline this year and they welcome new members.
