A WOMAN with ovarian cancer will get the chance to meet her idol - footballing icon Ian Wright - after a twitter campaign found its way to the Arsenal legend himself.

Barry grandmother Lesley Woolcock, 47, who successfully fought to be given a live-prolonging drug after being diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2014, was the subject of the #getianwrighttomeetlesleywoolcockhisbiggestfan campaign on Twitter with scores of people retweeting the appeal.

Family members, friends and well wishers from across Barry and beyond all retweeted the hashtag campaign, gunning to bring Ian Wright to Barry and meet Mrs Woolcock - who idolises the former Arsenal and England striker turned pundit.

The campaign eventually found its way to Ian Wright himself who tweeted: "I'm getting a lot of messages about Lesley Woolcock! Can anyone in direct contact with her pls DM me".

Now, several tweets have confirmed that Mrs Woolcock will get her wish.

Her son Daniel Brown tweeted: "What a man @IanWright0 is! Just spoke to my mum and he's coming down to see her!!"

Sister Alison Woolcock said: "Thank you @IanWright0 for making my sister's dream come true. U R A LEGEND!"
