FRIENDS and Neighbours first trip of 2016 went off with a bang with a brilliant day out to Monmouth, the Welsh market town situated at the confluence of the Rivers Wye, Monnow and Trothy.

The members enjoyed looking around the bustling main street and indoor market. They enjoyed looking at many of the attractive shops, antiques and taking time to have a coffee or tea and cake in the old tea rooms and cafes.

Many of them taking the opportunity to sit outside in the sunshine. Following this they went to the second part of the trip which was a visit to Millwood Garden Centre with lunch at Red Delhi Diner.

They enjoyed a tasty, hot, well presented meal followed by dessert.

The service was excellent and the staff looked after them well. As there was not much to see in the Garden Centre it was decided to offer them a visit to Wyevale Garden Centre in St Mellons Cardiff which had recently reopened following its fire some three years ago.

Many of the members had been before the fire and they marvelled at the change and how bright, airy and modern it was.

Many of them looked around the gift shops which were very reasonably priced and the plants many of them getting a buy one get one free bargain.

Some of the members looked around the outlet shops attached to the garden centre and many a bargain was to be purchased. They chatted on the way home about the wonderful day they had and what wonderful weather as well.

They are now looking forward to the June trip to Weston-super-Mare for lunch at Cadbury's, Wyevale Garden Centre and the mystery trip in August.
