A LITTERING awareness campaign made its way to St Richard Gwyn Catholic High School in Barry.
The school took part in the nationwide school campaign developed by The Wrigley Company, in partnership with specialist education consultancy Rapport.
Bin it! is the award winning drama-based education programme which educates students about responsibility and aims to demonstrate that littering is a habit that needs to be broken.
The show challenges students to change their behaviour and understand the implications of littering, in particular the penalties they can incur if they litter.
Bin it! is targeted at 11 to 13 year olds and is currently in its tenth annual nationwide tour of schools. Since the Bin it! tour began, the programme has visited 460 schools in the UK, reaching over 78,000 pupils.
Workshops encourages them to think about why people litter, reflect on their own behaviour and emphasises the importance of caring for their area and to take pride in where they live.
Evaluation of last year’s Bin it! tour showed that up to six weeks after the show 53 per cent of children said they now bin their litter more often.
