STAFF at a Barry supermarket proved the sky was no limit when they smashed a £500 charity fundraising target.

The Barry Morrisons crew raised £1813.65 for the store’s charity partner Sue Ryder during its Morrisons to the Moon weekend, August 28 to 30.

The weekend blasted off with one of the store’s more vocal checkout operators, Michelle Battye, taking part in a sponsored silence on the Friday.

Over the Saturday and Sunday, the store parked exercise bikes, lent by Barry Leisure Centre, in the foyer and staff took it in turns to cycle towards a 762km target.

It also held doughnut and cracker eating competitions and senior manager Mike Dowers and staff member Jack Hustler both had their legs waxed.

Community champion, Holly Baxter said: “It was a fantastic weekend of fun for a great cause.”
