A CHILDREN’S slide originally removed from a Barry park several years ago because of safety concerns has now been replaced.

Vale Council Castleland councillors Chris Elmore and Pamela Drake have welcomed the return of a slide to Belvedere Crescent Park.

Chris and Pamela have campaigned for a new slide to be installed at the park and said they were delighted to have kept their promise to residents to ensure the slide was replaced.

Cllr Pamela Drake said: “We’re delighted to have secured the funding for the slide to be reinstated in the park. It was a much valued and used piece of play equipment and since its return young people have started using it straight away.”

Cllr Chris Elmore added: “We’ve campaigned for the last three years to ensure the slide was replaced, so it is great to see it back. We have secured further funding to install new fencing around the multi-purpose sports area in the park too. This will be installed in September, the new fencing will help protect properties and improve the facilities for the young people who use the area.”
