CADOXTON Bowls team are still continuing their winning ways with another 12 points, when they completed the double against Caerphilly Social, at home.

After this weekend's game, they are one of three teams, each with seven wins, at the top of the table.

Don Kuhnell’s rink started well by winning the first six ends and by the 11th end they led 13 – 2. However a disastrous second half of the match, left them woefully behind with a five, four and three threes amongst the losing ends whilst winning just one further end.

Meanwhile John Jones was engaged in a tight fight on his rink up until the score was 10-9 in their favour after 14 ends. From that point on they took over by winning the remaining ends including a six and four to open a gap to more than cover the gap on the other rink.

The rink skipped by Roy Harding went into an early 7-1 lead, but were brought back to 7-7 after nine ends. They also had a big finish conceding only three more singles whilst amassing 21 more shots including three threes and a four to win another big score.

Howard Craven skipped the final rink and they struggled for most of the game. They were trailing 12-6 with 13 ends completed. Their survival started when a two and five gained the lead, and although two singles regained it for the opposition, wins on the remaining four ends, including two threes, gave the third success.

H Hellyar, I Robertson, G Davies and D Kuhnell 15 –26

S Clarke, P Ellis, D Brook and J Jones 27 – 9

L Adams, G Solomon, D Jeffries and H Craven 21 –14

Once again Cadoxton ‘A’ fielded a team, at Rumney, with a player short on each rink. However, Alan Carpenter returning after a long period of incapacity skipped his rink to a welcome success, with the assistance of Gil Powell, and Alan Prince. Unfortunately the other rinks did not manage a similar result.

A Field, R Morris and R Byrne 17 – 23

R Cole, E Heppenstall and D Fanning 10 – 20

S Clements, D Hammond and I Heppenstall 11 – 27

G Powell, A Prince and A Carpenter 17 – 16
