THE Vale of Glamorgan Council’s Family Information Service has put together a huge programme of all the activities taking place for children and young people in the Vale this summer.

There are hundreds of activities and schemes being organised by various providers throughout the Vale during the summer holiday period, including holiday childcare schemes, free sports and leisure activities, and events across the Vale’s libraries.

The Council’s Play Development Team will be running a number of free play schemes in venues across the Vale, which will also include sports sessions such as badminton, football, tennis and volleyball.

The Disability Teen Scheme is also running at Cadoxton Moors Community Centre for young people aged 12 to 19 for only £5 per day.

Further to this, there will be a huge range of activities being offered by various other centres and organisations across the county.

Leisure centres in Barry, Llantwit Major and Penarth will be offering free swimming activities such as rookie lifeguard sessions, fun inflatables, and water polo, and there will be free tennis sessions available at Penarth Windsor Lawn Tennis Club, Llantwit Major tennis courts, and Romilly Park.

In August, the Heritage Coast Centre will be hosting a sand sculpture competition on Dunraven bay at just £3 per team, and the Seaside Rangers will be hosting the Marine Wildlife Club for Juniors, with a two-hour session costing £4.50 per child.

And St Donat’s Arts Centre will be hosting a sing-along cinema session at £3.50 per child featuring the Disney spectacle Frozen, as well as archery sessions, a medieval knights and princesses craft workshop, and a magic workshop with magician Simon Sparkles, all at £8.50 per person.

Also on offer are a series of Go Wild events across the Vale’s Country Parks, as well as the Medieval Mystery activities at Cosmeston Medieval Village.
