FOLLOWING their successful sell out summer shows Fame, Grease and Hairspray, Barry's Superstars in the Making will be performing West Side Story at Barry Memo this August.

The Barry performing arts school - led by Academy Principal Christian Bullen - will be putting on a spectacular show featuring a talented cast of actors, singers, dancers and an outstanding live band.

West Side Story is Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet is transported to 1950s New York City, as two young idealistic lovers find themselves caught between warring street gangs, the American Jets and the Puerto Rican Sharks, featuring such songs as Maria, Tonight, I Feel Pretty, Somewhere and America.

The performances run from Thursday, August 20 to Saturday, August 22.

West Side Story is a community summer production presented as part of the Memo Arts Centre’s outreach and participation programme.

Note that this production features a live orchestra, which can be fairly loud. Some audience members therefore may chose to sit a little further back in the Auditorium Stalls or Balcony.
