THE weather was on the side of the PTA and staff of Sully School who pulled off a fantastic afternoon for all the crowds at their recent American-themed summer fete, raising just under £5,000 for the school.

The summer fete is the biggest fundraiser for the PTA and took over the grounds of the school. It was jam-packed with lots of fun things to do and games to play to the fair stalls of cakes, jams and flowers as well as the traditional jolly jar stall as well as guess the number of balloons in the car for a free service courtesy of Evans Halshaw Citroen, Cardiff.

There was a great display from the Cardiff Cougars gymnasts and the school choir charmed everyone with their dulcet tones under the instruction of Mrs Williams.

Many families took to basking in the glorious sunshine on picnic mats making it a great afternoon of family fun.

Mrs Kathryn Hart, head teacher at Sully School, said: "The summer fete was a resounding success this year and I’d like to thank all the staff and the Sully School PTA for all their hard work in organising.

"To raise close to £5,000 is a fantastic achievement and I would like to thank all those that contributed to fete including all the raffle prize donations.

"I’d like to also give a special thanks to the chairman of the PTA, Andrea Johns, who has stepped down after two years. She has made a significant contribution to the funds generated for the school over the past years and we are very grateful for her support and enthusiasm.”
