RECENTLY 372 (Barry) Squadron, Air Training Corps held their Dining In Night, a chance to formally entertain guests of the Squadron, with more than 100 officers, instructors, cadets and ex-cadets attending.

The Cadets and Squadron Staff were joined by several guests including: Squadron David Lawrence (MOD St Athan), Squadron Leader Allan Jones (No.1 Welsh Wing Executive Officer), Squadron Leader Dave Crandon (former Commanding Officer of 372 Squadron) and Squadron Leader Roger Beech (No.1 Welsh Wing Sports Officer).

The Mr Vice on the night was Cadet Rhian Horton the newest Cadet on the Squadron. Rhian’s responsibility on the night was to assist the Commanding Officer with the smooth running of the evening and to entertain the guests after dinner.

After dinner, Squadron Leader Roger Beech gave an entertaining speech to the Cadets and Guests.

Squadron Leader Allan Jones and also to present the annual NCO of the Year trophy to Corporal Alex Spragg; for his hard work and dedication during the last year and Squadron Leader David Lawrence promoted Rachael Carbis to the top rank of Cadet Warrant Officer.

The Cadets thoroughly enjoyed the annual dining in night, learning about the traditions upheld within the Royal Air Force.

Cadet Michael Watkins said: “At first I really nervous about the evening and all the traditions we had to remember. It was great fun and I can’t wait until next years dining in night."

The Cadets are now looking forward to an action packed and challenging training programme including flying, gliding, shooting, archery, sport, hill craft, Duke of Edinburgh and leadership training in what promises to be another busy and exciting few months ahead.
