THE Vale of Glamorgan Council’s transport team picked up one first place and one runner up award at the CILT Cymru-Wales National Transport and Logistics Awards 2015.

The Council was named the winner of the Safety category for its work on the stretch of Port Road from Barry Comprehensive School to Weycock Cross Roundabout.

The Vale also won the runner-up award in the Partnership category for its links with bus company New Adventure Travel and their work to improve bus routes between Llantwit Major, Cowbridge, and Talbot Green.

Councillor Lis Burnett, Cabinet Member for Transportation, said: “I was delighted to receive on behalf of the Council two prestigious transport awards that recognise the efforts of the transport team in delivering new transport infrastructure and also new bus services.

“I hope that we can build on these transport successes over the coming months and years.”

The CILT Cymru-Wales National Transport Awards 2015 were presented on June 12 at the prestigious Assembly Room in City Hall, Cardiff.

These awards saw many of the best and brightest of Wales’s supply chain and transport professionals being nominated for some of the industry’s key awards.
