IF you find a penny in a Barry street, it may not be the work of a lucky fairy, but that of a young Barry boy.

Nine-year-old Bailey Sloan has been making his way around Barry committing one hundred random act of kindness leaving money, sweets, cards and gifts in his wake.

The acts, inspired by author Danny Wallace’s book, are designed to teach Bailey, who has ADHD and is on the autistic spectrum, empathy.

And together with mum Lisa Harrhy, the pair have filmed the results which they hope will inspire people to act in similarly kind ways.

Mum Lisa, 37, said that Bailey was being home educated and the YouTube video of Part One of the ‘100 Random Acts of Kindness’ documented what Bailey had achieved.

Lisa said: “We would love to make more people aware of the video and what a difference acts of kindness can make. The local people and businesses in Barry were moved by the cards and gifts they received and people loved the video.”

Acts undertaken by Bailey include paying for the car behind at a drive thru, tidying trolleys at a supermarket, clearing litter from the beach, feeding swans, giving cards to police and fire crew, leaving treats for the postman, holding doors open for people, and smiling at others.

The pair have also appeared on breakfast TV and the television news, and since recognised in the street.

Bailey said he had no particular favourite good deed, adding “I like them all.”

Lisa said: “It’s been brilliant. A lot of people now understand. People have been really nice.”
