ONE well deserving family from Barry will be treated to a day out at Drayton Manor Theme Park, courtesy of the area's Round Table group.

Barry Round Table wants to hear nominations from people in Barry for their "Biggest Wish" event in July.

The criteria for nominations is a family with a child aged between four and 17 years old who is either suffering or recovering from a life threatening illness.

A Round Table spokesman said: "We are also happy to consider other nominations that fall outside of this criteria, for example, a parent who has suffered a life-threatening illness.

"It’s also important that the child is fit and well enough to attend on the day too, given the nature of the venue being a theme park, with rides and strobe lighting etc."

The selected family will be one of 400 chosen from across the UK and Ireland for the event - which also marks the Round Table charity's 25th anniversary.

Andrew Rosser, chairman of Barry Round Table - a social club for men which fundraises for good causes - said: "It's the most ambitious thing that we've done nationally.

"I think it's a great idea. It's about bringing us all together as a community and will benefit a family in Barry."

The “Biggest Wish” event takes place at Drayton Manor Theme Park on Saturday, July 4where Round Tablers and sponsors will host 400 invited families.

Andrew Rosser added: "Finally, if anyone would like to find out more about Barry Round Table, we’d love to hear from local young men aged between 18 to 45.

"Our group meets twice a month, on the first and third Wednesday. As well as charity and community support, the group could enjoy activities such as climbing, white water rafting and lots more."
