THE mayor of the Vale of Glamorgan hosted a reception to present the Barry Beavers Disabled Swimming Club with a cheque for £5,105.10.
Cllr Hamilton said, “I am pleased we have raised such a good sum for this local charity. We have held many fundraising events which have been very enjoyable. Barry Beavers are a small charity and their volunteers give fantastic support to their members.”
Pat Finch, secretary to the Club, said “We are very grateful to the mayor and mayoress for all their efforts during the year. Not only have they made a great amount of money for the club, but it has also raised our profile in the area to such an extent we have many new members. We are currently in a position where we could really do with some extra helpers to assist with the swimming lessons. If anyone is interested in helping us on a Saturday afternoon 4–5pm in Barry Swimming Pool, please give me a ring on 01446 747683.”
