THE disused toilet block on Barry Island will be put up for sale again this summer, with interest in the Grade-II listed building expected to be significant following the regeneration of the area.
Having been closed more than 15 years ago, the public conveniences - opposite the Dolphin Bar near Nell's Point - was deemed "beyond economic repair" and optioned for selling off by the Vale of Glamorgan Council in 2011.
Since then a number of bids have been made by potential buyers, but ultimately turned down by the council.
With interest in Barry Island at a peak, due to the ongoing regeneration and the recent reopening of the Pleasure Park site, the toilet block is expected to once again attract the attention of buyers.
The building is in a prime position on Barry Island, being the first thing many visitors see as they exit the car park at Nell's Point.
The building's listed status means that the structure itself must remain unmodified but what the building is used for can be decided by whoever buys it.
