A VALE councillor accused of sexual assault will remain an elected member of the council, ahead of his trial in June.
The Vale of Glamorgan council have confirmed that Councillor Rob Curtis remains the elected member for Barry's Gibbonsdown ward.
Curtis, 50, of Merthyr Dyfan Road, Barry appeared at Haverfordwest Magistrates court this morning (Tuesday, April 14) where he pleaded not guilty to an allegation of touching a 17-year-old girl on the leg in a sexual manner without her consent.
A spokesman for the Vale of Glamorgan council said: "The Vale of Glamorgan Council is aware that Councillor Curtis has entered a plea of not guilty and has been granted unconditional bail ahead of a trial set for June 10.
"Cllr Curtis remains the elected member for the Gibbonsdown ward of the Vale of Glamorgan.
"We can make no further comment on the issue at this time."
