VOLUNTEERS from Valeways, the charity dedicated to pathway clearance and walking in the Vale of Glamorgan, celebrated a year of working and walking with a lunch at the Cwm Ciddy, Barry.
The social break was enjoyed by all volunteers who include groups from the local ‘Scope’ organisation and from Atlantic College, St Donats, as well as regular walk leaders.
All of them have been out in all weathers throughout the year working to keep public pathways in the Vale clear as well as running a programme of led walks available to all.
As well as this continuing programme, the volunteers will now focus their attention on the Vale Walking Festival which, organised by Valeways, is now in its sixth year.
The festival will run from Thursday 21 to Sunday, May 24 offering four days of led walks making the most of our glorious coast and countryside in the Vale.
With assistance from a wide variety of people and organisations; the Ramblers, Amgueddfa Cymru, Creative Rural Communities are just three examples; the festival offers an unrivalled opportunity to enjoy the rich environment on our doorstep. All walks in the programme are free.
This year there is a new link with the Vale of Glamorgan Festival renowned for its annual programme of new music. Three walks will link in with the time and location of concerts.
