DESPITE yet more last minute delays and final hour discussions, the new owners of Barry Island Pleasure have said that rides will be on site today and a fairground up and running by the end of the week.

Showman Henry Danter arrived on site this morning (Monday, March 30) hoping to be handed the keys but, with JCBs, lorries and rides all en route to Barry from London, some last minute wranglings about the current state of the site have caused a snag in proceedings.

Undeterred, the Danter family remain positive that Barry Island Pleasure Park will be back in business by Easter.

Symonds Yat company director and Henry Danter's daughter Kimberley said: "We thought the previous tenants would be out and it would be clean and that's not what happened.

"We were hoping that everything would be out of the site by 2pm but it will be a miracle for that to happen.

"It's not gone to according plan. It should be a happy day, but it's only a slight delay.

"By the end of the day we will have something on the park, even if the rides are just sitting there.

"We'll have the keys we'll have our machines in the park.

"By Friday there will be a small funfair for the Easter holidays. We promised people that and we won't disappoint."
