A MAN who stole a gold necklace while serving a suspended sentence has been jailed for 22 weeks.
At Cardiff and Vale magistrates court Andrew Paul Kerry Zalick pleaded guilty to theft and to committing offences during the operational period of a suspended sentence.
The suspended sentence was issued for offences of two counts of theft, attempted theft and common assault.
In December last year Zalick, 47, of Treharne Road, Barry was given a 12 week prison sentence, suspended for 15 weeks for the offences, which included stealing two jars of Nescafe coffee valued at £12 belonging to One Stop, and to stealing two jars of Nescafe coffee valued at £12 belonging to Co-op stores.
On Saturday, March 14 Zalick, jointly with another person, stole a 9ct gold chain valued at £1950 from Cash Solutions, Holton Road, Barry.
Due to the theft being aggravated by being committed whilst subject to a community sentence, Zalick was given a 22 week prison sentence and was ordered to pay an £80 surcharge.
