RECEPTION children from High Street Primary School donned Pizzaiolo uniforms when they visited Pizza Express in Cardiff Bay on Friday, March 6.

Pupils, staff and parent volunteers had a tour of the restaurant before learning the tricks of making the perfect pizza.

The children got stuck in by spreading their tomato sauce before adding cheese to make their classic margarita pizzas in the huge oven to cook in just four minutes.

After being awarded their Pizzaiolo Certificates by the staff at Pizza Express the children were able to take their pizza away with them.

Thomas, age five, said "I love pizza, it tastes yummy" and Sophia, four, said "I loved making my own pizza it was the best day ever!"

The staff had a great morning and teacher Hayley Davies commended such a fantastic free scheme offered by Pizza Express. "It was a perfect school trip for our ‘Scrumptious’ topic and helped the children see how a real restaurant works. It's brilliant that Pizza Express offers the chance for children to experience pizza making as part of their educational outreach programme and we will certainly visit again next year."
