ESSENTIAL improvement works between Barry and Cardiff Central train stations will result in a number of service changes this weekend, March 28 and 29.

Network Rail is advising passengers that the majority of the Cardiff & Valleys local routes rail network will be affected.

The line upgrade is being carried out as part of the ongoing £220 million investment programme to improve the railway around Cardiff designed to enhance passenger services in the future.

Bus replacement services will operate between Cardiff Central and Penarth, Cardiff Central and Barry Island and on the Cardiff Central and Bridgend via the Vale of Glamorgan line.

Valleys and Cardiff local routes will run less frequently with the exception of the Cardiff Bay services that will run as normal.

Passengers are advised to allow extra time for their journey and check for any platform changes at Cardiff Central.

Service information will be available from station staff, posters at local stations, and via www.arrivatrainswales.co.uk or National Rail Enquiries on 08457 48 49 50.
