CARDIFF Airport will be holding an emergency training exercise on Wednesday, March 25, around noon and 5pm.

The training involving all local emergency services, in line with the licensing requirements of the Civil Aviation Authority, is an opportunity for all airport partners and the emergency services to test and measure response procedures should an incident occur.

Various partners including teams from Cardiff Airport, South Wales Fire and Rescue, South Wales Police and South Wales Ambulance Service will participate.

The exercise will be held within the main terminal building and the southern area of the airfield, using airport access points in Rhoose.

The Airport will remain fully operational during the exercise and resources will remain in place outside of the exercise should anything happen in ‘real life’ that requires response.

Debra Barber, Cardiff Airport’s Managing Director, said: “Regular training and exercises such as this are vital to ensure the airport and local services are prepared and confident with the plans and procedures in place to deal with any emergency situation. Safety and security of both staff and passengers is our number one priority.

“The exercise aims to keep any impact on local residents to a minimum however we would like to apologise for any disturbance or inconvenience caused during the exercise.”

Emergency vehicles involved will not be using blue lights when responding.
