BUDDING aerospace engineers and constructors of the future from the Vale of Glamorgan are being encouraged to take part in Cardiff and Vale College’s special competition.

To mark National Engineering Week, CAVC is encouraging High Schools to put forward teams of six pupils in Year 10 for a range of activities to test mental agility, quick thinking and problem solving – key skills for a career in aircraft maintenance.

The competition, held over three days from March 20 to 24, will take place at CAVC’s International Centre for Aerospace Training (ICAT) based at Cardiff Airport.

There is also a Construction Challenge for Year 10 pupils. Nine member teams are invited to put forward a project manager, brickwork, carpentry, wall and floor tiling and plumbing contractors to design and build within a 2.5m square plot.

Winners will be chosen by the College’s specialist aerospace engineering and construction lecturers.

To submit a team please contact CAVC Student Recruitment Officer, Joanne Gower, at jgower@cavc.ac.uk or 07549 606972.
