BRITAIN'S largest pet store Pets at Home will open the doors of its new Barry store next month and are looking for local animal charities to support.

On Friday, March 13 Pets at Home will officially open at Barry's Waterfront Retail Park, in the old Poundstretcher premises.

Store manager, Alex Jones said: “It’s been a busy few months and now my team and I can’t wait to open the doors and welcome our new customers and their pets to the store.”

Pets at Home is also aiming to make a difference by partnering with animal charities from the area via its independent charity Support Adoption For Pets.

Support Adoption For Pets will work closely with the new Pets at Home store to support selected local animal organisations and charities.

The selected charities will also be eligible to be nominated and take part in the national fundraising drives run by Support Adoption For Pets during the year.

“Our mission is to ensure that pets live a happy and healthy life," said Alex. "We’d love to hear from any animal charities and re-homing centres in the area so we can talk to them about Support Adoption For Pets and how we can help them.”

The shop, which has created 15 jobs for local people, will include a Groom Room offering a wide range of services including bath and blow dry, puppy grooming and nail clipping, which are all important to a pet’s health and wellbeing.

The new store will also be home to an Adoption Centre, where pets such as rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters and other small animals will be cared for until a new home can be found.

Area manager, Dave Cooper, said: “There was a strong demand from Barry pet owners for Pets at Home to come to town, and we’re very pleased to have been able to grant them their wish.

“Pets at Home is committed to recruiting from the local area and I’m pleased we’ve found a team of talented individuals in Barry. They’re all extremely passionate about pets and can’t wait to get started."
