TIDES on Barry Island are at their highest level in 18 years, due to a spring "supertide".
With flood warnings being issued across Wales, Barry Island has seen spectacular waves crashing onto the promenade, with the beach completelky covered by the record high tide.
Some of our readers captured amazing photographs of the "supertide", which is caused when the gravitational pull of the sun and moon combine to create a greater force than normal. Tides this spring are at an 18-year peak, according to Environment Agency data.
Although there have been reportings of minor flooding on roads around Barry Island a South Wales Fire and Rescue spokesman confirmed that they have not been called to attend any incidents of serious flooding.
