YEAR 9 pupils from a Barry-based secondary school gave the Vale MP a fair grilling when they quizzed him about Barry Island Pleasure Park.
Ysgol Gyfun Bro Morgannwg youngsters focused on the regeneration of Barry Island when they met Alun Cairns after researching plans announced by leisure operator Henry Danter.
Mr Cairns explained to pupils about the work he had done to bring parties together for the benefit of visitors to Barry Island and that following the visit by Minister Eric Pickles he hoped the community and local authority would get behind a project that would see a high class funfair opening in preparation for the summer of 2015.
Mr Cairns said: βThe regeneration of Barry Island is such a symbolic project, with both pupils and teachers keen to see the area redeveloped. I am happy to discuss any project that will benefit Barry and the wider Vale β and it was very pleasing to see such in depth research and interest undertaken by the Year 9 students.β
