A WOMAN who posed as a witch and used "black magic" to convince a schoolgirl to take part in sex sessions with her husband has been found guilty at Cardiff Crown Court.

St Athan woman Carolee Hickman, 64, told the teenage girl that she was a part of a powerful witches coven and would harm her mother.

The court heard she would make the girl have sex with husband Albert Hickman, 65, so she could be part of their "magic circle".

Mr Hickman, who used to work for the RAF, denied raping the young girl at a date between 1972 and 1975 but was found guilty by a jury.

Mrs Hickman was found guilty of indecent assault and aiding and abetting rape at their home in St Athan.

The court had been told the husband and wife had been jailed in 1982 for similar child sex offences.

The jury was told occultist Mrs Hickman had a special "bejewelled knife" which she used to cut her victims thumb before sucking her blood.

The victim, now in her 50s, said the horror of what happened to her while at school had been buried for 40 years - before her memories resurfaced.

She told the court: "Carolee said she was a witch and would come and get me and would make my mother ill - she even said she could kill my mother if she wanted to.

“She had a knife with a jewelled handle kept in a wooden box with carvings on the top. She cut my hand and sucked the blood out of it.

“There were tarot cards she used to tell our fortunes and she even had a black cape."

The woman, who cannot be identified, said she went to Carolee Hickman’s home aged 11 while ditching school with friends.

The couple allegedly gave the girl and her friends "pagan crosses" to wear before plying them with cigarettes and alcohol.

The alleged victim said: “She told me she was a member of a coven and moved on to kissing me, then touching me and me touching her, both of us naked in bed together.

“I was on the bed when she held my arms while he (Albert Hickman) raped me.”

The court heard her fear about what could happen made her return to the house over and over again.

Speaking through tears, she said: “I didn't want to go and be raped daily by her - I was too frightened not to go."

The jury heard how they also discussed black magic and did tarot card readings with the girl.

The pair were found guilty by a majority verdict after five hours deliberation.

As Judge Daniel Williams remanded them in custody, Mrs Hickman sobbed into her hand and shouted “no” from across the courtroom.

Her husband loudly protested as he was taken down to the cells.
