A BARRY primary school was closed a day early ahead of the Christmas holiday (Friday, December 19) following the outbreak of a sickness bug.
The precautionary measure at Ysgol Nant Talwg was taken as a result of a number of children and teachers being taken ill.
A Vale Council spokesman said: “Due to the numbers of children and teachers that have already been affected, and taking into account the health and welfare of the remaining children and teachers, as a precautionary measure the head teacher, following communication with the council, took the decision to close the school.
“Action is already being taken to ensure that a deep clean of the school has been undertaken by the cleaners and that all classrooms are subject to a thorough clean. We expect that the school will re-open as usual at the start of term in the new year.”
