VINTAGE and retro items including glasses, ceramic bowls, measuring funnels, teapots and cutlery sets are being sold by a Barry Island business.

The sale is being organised by the family of Christina Raffi, whose family run the Royal Cafe in Paget Road.

Many of the items belonged to Christina Raffi, known locally through the family run business as 'Mrs' and who died aged 87 some 17 months ago.

A spokeswoman for the family said: "We have recycled lots of stuff and given some away but there is too much to do one car boot sale or something similar so we decided to open the cafe for the day and sell stuff from there.

"The business has been in the family since 1946 and everyone knew my mum simply as Mrs. Her house was full of stuff and we didn't want to throw it away.

"We haven't decided what to do yet with the funds from such a sale, but it will have something to do with Mum."

The sale is at the cafe on Tuesday, December 2, from 10am to 4pm. Anyone interested is welcome to go along.
