GENERATIONS have banded together in Barry to give the launch of the Poppy Appeal a flying start.

Youngsters have stepped forward in their droves to assist veteran poppy sellers and the Barry branch of the Royal British legion following the launch of the annual appeal at Barry Morrisons on Saturday, October 25.

Poppy Appeal organiser, Roy Goodwin said: “The Riders branch of the Royal British Legion joined us in their car park. Berry Williams an RBL member gave a bike a go, so did Nikki Whitcombe and her son Luke - and teddy came too.”

Guides and scouts united to sell poppies in Holton Road on Monday with cub Thomas Murray, eight, and the 10th Barry Guides out in force.

Poppy sellers are in Morrisons, Tesco, Waitrose and Lidl until Saturday, November 8 with cadets, guides and scouts in Holton Road throughout the week with a market stall on Tuesday.

Poppy collection boxes are also located in various shops and businesses across the town.
