A MAN with 101 previous convictions for dishonesty, has appeared in court charged with a series of thefts including an attempt to steal a charity box from a hotel.
Cardiff Magistrates Court heard how Jason Burdge, 46, of Norwood Crescent, Barry attempted to steal a charity box from the Premier Inn, Hood Road, Barry on Tuesday, October 9.
Previously, on Sunday, September 21, Burdge had entered a domestic garage at Hillside Close, Barry where he stole a pedal bike valued at £100.
Exactly a month later on Sunday, October 21 Burdge was caught stealing a pair of gloves from the 99p Store on Holton Road, Barry. He was also carrying a torch and tools for use in the course of, or in connection with, theft.
Burdge pleaded guilty to all charges and was given a 16 week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months. He was ordered to pay 99p compensation for the gloves, and £160 compensation for the bike theft.
He was also ordered to pay £85 costs and an £80 surcharge.
