A WEEKEND of summer sunshine in October was enjoyed by Barry Male Voice Choir on its recent visit to Falmouth. Choristers and supporters made the most of the weather.
Sitting, sipping and strolling provided the perfect preparation for the evening concert held in support of local charities including the Mermaid breast cancer centre.
A varied programme including stirring choruses and traditional Welsh hymns produced rapturous applause from the large audience.
An enthusiastic afterglow sing-along conducted with great aplomb by choir president Gordon Mudford followed. Musical director Dorothy Connell and accompanist Emma Arscott enjoyed a well deserved rest and looked on in awe.
The choir returned home happy and pleased that it had raised almost £700 for local charities
The choir is now making its final preparations for a taster evening to attract new members which will be held at the West end Social Club Barry on Monday, November 10 at 7.30pm.
Choir president Gordon Mudfford explained: “The evening is designed to give men who enjoy singing but have not sung in a choir before a chance to find out what it is all about
"There will be no voice test. Those attending will be given a gentle introduction to male voice singing by our musical director Dorothy Connell. Refreshments will be available and there will be as a chance to meet choristers. It will be a friendly and informal occasion. There will be no obligation to join the choir although we hope of course that some will. It’s a find out night!”
