RAISING the flag at Central Park, members of the Barry Citizens Action Group and the Vale Council’s Parks and Grounds Maintenance Department came together to celebrate the park's newly acquired Green Flag.
They were also joined by the Mayor of the Vale of Glamorgan, Cllr Howard Hamilton, and his wife Carol, Mayor of Barry Town Council, Cllr Jeff Evans, Jane Hutt AM, Cllr Margaret Wilkinson, Cllr Ian Johnson and Cllr Gwyn John, Cabinet Member for Leisure, Parks, Culture and Sports Development.
A successful action by the Barry Citizens Action Group, led by Dilys Colbourne, ensured that the site was not taken over for a large development.
And since then the park has seen huge improvements, including major refurbishment and landscaping works, all contributing to its current success.
