A FREE seminar discussing putting an end to animal cruelty and wildlife crime is being held at the Vale of Glamorgan Council chamber, Barry.

Chaired by the Vale's biodiversity champion Councillor Rob Curtis, the seminar will cover everything from fly grazing to farm welfare to badger baiting and the illegal trade of endangered species.

Cllr Curtis said: “Cruelty to animals is wrong, just as cruelty to humans is wrong.

"Causing unnecessary suffering to animals deliberately or through neglect for whatever reason should be prevented whether in the wild, in the home or on farms.

"It is right that we have laws and regulations to stop cruelty."

The free seminar takes place on Thursday, October 30, from 5.45pm until 8pm at the Civic Offices, Holton Road, Barry.

Anyone interesting in attending can register by e-mailing Mark Petherick on mpetherick@valeofglamorgan.gov.uk or phone 01445 709853.

Speaking at the event will be police wildlife crime officer Mark Goulding, superintendent Martyn Hubbard of the RSPCA and principal Trading Standards officer Christina Roberts-Kinsey.
