A NEW uniform design which aims to boost the confidence of those wearing it, has been viewed by the Vale MP.

Alun Cairns visited 10th Barry Guides on Romilly Road, Barry, to meet volunteers and to see the new Guides uniform being worn by the group who are the first in the United Kingdom to fully adopt the radical new uniform.

The uniform, designed by five young women studying fashion and children’s wear at Arts University Bournemouth (AUB), is the first new design in 14 years.

Mr Cairns said: “I am very impressed with the new uniform, and proud that 10th Barry Guides are the first group to adopt the new clothing. The leaders work incredibly hard to offer opportunities to youngsters from all background. All the guides looked exceptionally smart, and were very pleased with the new outfits.”
