A GIFT day in aid of a Barry church’s refurbishment project will be held at Crossway Methodist Church, from 2pm to 4pm this Saturday, September 27.

The church is planning small but significant changes to its interior with the ‘SPACE’ project all about creating a more flexible space for the church and community groups.

A new sanctuary area built with a demountable Communion rail by Barry firm Salevon and some pews will be removed, as part of the work this October.

New flooring and carpeting will be installed as well as some planned enhancements to the sound system and projection facilities.

There will also be new chairs both in the church space and in the hall.

Rev Peter Taylor said: “All of this will of course bring some serious expenditure for the church. We are grateful to the Vale of Glamorgan Council Welsh Churches Act Trust and the Vale Methodist Circuit and Wales Synod for their generous support.

“We are planning some fundraising in the coming months and year.”

Rev Taylor said its Gift Day event, at the Court Road/Crossways Street site, would be an opportunity to give thanks to God for the church and help it its mission and ministry now and in the coming years.

He said: “All gifts received will be used towards the fundraising for the Church Physical and Spiritual Space project.

“Feel free to sit in prayer and quiet in the church. Stay for as little or long as you can.”

He added: “We will have a few spare pews, which for a donation, people or groups are welcome to take as an unique gift for a hall way, outside space or patio.”

Refreshments will be available and there will also be another opportunity to donate towards this project at the Sunday, September 28 morning service at 11am.

A series of fundraising events are planned, such as quiz nights and concerts.
