A BAND who spent two years rehearsing in a Barry room will release their debut album later this month.

Cardiff psychedelic band Some Kind Of Leader celebrate the release of their debut album Dog Club with a live event at Jacob's Market, Cardiff city centre, on Saturday, September 27.

Special guests include a DJ set from Super Furry Animals wizard Cian Ciarán and more live music from space rockers Luna Stasi.

Some Kind Of Leader formed in 2011 and released their first EP in March 2014.

Dog Club, the band's first full length record is released on iTunes and Amazon on Monday, September 2014 22 on Broken Yoke Records.

Producer Cian Ciarán rears some interesting beats across 13 tracks which channel the raw sound and attitude of rock titans such as The Rolling Stones, The Who and The Doors and the multifarious nature of David Bowie and the Beatles.

The band is made up of Ali Price, 29, on vocals and guitar, Gareth Davies, 26, on drums, Leon Hartley, 30, on lead guitar and Huw Elfyn, 27, on bass and backing vocals.

Alice said: “We rented a garage space behind Broad Street in Barry when we began rehearsing together back in 2010. We played covers gigs locally to raise money for equipment and recording expenses under the name The Vinyl Eyes. We've enjoyed live performances at The Park hotel, the Dolphin and eventually went on to perform at GlastonBarry 2013 in front of 1,000 people at the Memo.

“Since then we've been busy writing and recording our debut album with Super Furry Animals keyboardist Cian Ciaran.
