A VALE-BASED dance crew has been kitted out in style thanks to funding from players of a charity lottery.

YDance teams from Motion Control Dance received a funding boost with JuVenile and ERA awarded £1,791 by People’s Postcode Trust, a grant-giving charity, funded entirely by players of People’s Postcode Lottery.

The organisation used the money to provide the young dancers competing at the UDO World Championship last month with a uniform and assisted with their travel costs.

The Motion Control Dance Programme, brought by Vibe Experience, offers young people living in the Vale A Chance to Dance with a range of dance opportunities and services in street dance, break dance, hip hop, contemporary and choreography.

The award winning YDance teams compete all over the country.

Dance co-ordinator, Emma Mallam, said: “The funding allowed the young dancers to be unified in attire, giving them confidence to look like a high quality team at such a prestigious competition. It has given them a sense of pride and good reputation which has inspired them further. It has also given the dancers added value to the service we provide for them and given them hope that they can succeed in all they put their mind too. An aspect that we try to envisage when working with disadvantaged young people."

People’s Postcode Lottery is a charity lottery, where players play with their postcodes to win cash prizes while raising money for good causes.

As a charity lottery, 50p from every £2 ticket goes to support charities and good causes across England, Scotland and Wales, including People’s Postcode Trust.

People’s Postcode Lottery supports local communities so the money raised stays local to players.

Emma added: “It was an amazing experience for all the dancers in Glasgow, one they will never forget. They would not have felt like a true team without the clothing that was bought thanks to the Postcode Lottery as it cost a lot for them to travel and compete at the UDO World Championships. They have had a very successful year and are very grateful that they were awarded this funding. The dancers also want to say thank you to the other sponsors that supported their fundraising efforts – Extreme Fitters, Barry Town Council and the customers of Waitrose, without your help this competition of a lifetime for these dancers would not have been possible.”
