PLENTY of people turned out for the Family Fun Days run by Vale Council’s Sports and Play Development Team in partnership with Barry Town Council this summer.

The first day held in Alexandra Gardens to celebrate National Play Day, was a huge success, attracting more than 250 children, young people and their families throughout the event. All those that attended participated in a range of play and sports activities.

The second day, which took place at Maslin Gardens, was attended by over 100 people, which was great news after poor weather deterred some visitors. Activities that were enjoyed included junk modelling, arts and crafts and sports.

Barry Town Council provided funding for both of the events and Cllr Jeff Evans, Mayor of Barry Town Council attended to show his support, saying: "It has given me great pleasure in the past few weeks to be invited to open the Children’s Fun Days at both Maslin Park and Alexandra Gardens.

"The new play equipment looks great, and the enthusiasm of the Council Play Leaders was endemic in scores of children having a wonderful, joyful time."

Joanne Jones, Play Development Officer for the Vale of Glamorgan Council and organiser of the events, said: "Children have enjoyed a range of activities during these events and it is all down to a successful partnership between Barry Town Council and the Vale of Glamorgan Sports & Play Development Team. We would like thank Barry Town Council for their support and hope we can continue working in partnership in the future."
