A GROUP of creative young people has come together to organise an event that all the community can enjoy.
Young promoters, a project run by The Night Out Scheme through the Arts Council of Wales has been working with Barry Communities first to equip the group with the skills needed to turn Holton Primary School into a performance venue.
They will welcome the internationally recognised ‘Le Navet Bête’ Company on the September 24 with their show ’Once Upon a Time in a Western’ promising to be a perfect night out for all the family. One of the Young Promoters explains ‘It’s going to be the best show ever with plenty of laughs, we will be putting on refreshments too’ another Young promoter added ‘I’ve enjoyed being creative and working with other young people who I wouldn’t normally work with. I can’t wait to see the show’.
Holly Morgan, from Barry Communities First added ‘It’s been wonderful to see the young people grow in confidence as they learn about all the jobs they will have to do on the day from selling tickets and showing the audience to their seats to making announcements and looking after the visiting company. I’m really proud of what the young people have achieved; we couldn’t have done the project without their enthusiasm’.
The show ‘Once Upon a Time in a Western’ will be performed on the September 24 at Holton Primary School at 6pm (doors open at 5.30pm). Tickets are £4 adult, £3 children and concessions and £10 for a family ticket. Tickets are available on the door or can be reserved in advance by calling 01446 709432.
