IF you would like to join a choir, Sherman Cymru is launching a new group this month which is open to everyone. The choir will be led by Forget-Me-Not Chorus and WNO’s Kate Wolveridge and is open to any age and ability and will be a mixed group.

Kate is one of Wales’ most popular mezzo sopranos and has worked extensively with the Welsh National Opera and Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. She was awarded the Inspirational Woman of the Year 2102 for her work with The Forget-Me-Not Chorus for dementia sufferers and their carers.

The Sherman Choir will meet weekly and each will be working towards performance opportunities at Christmas. The Choir’s repertoire will vary but for this autumn the choir will be working on an eclectic mix of Palestinian folk songs and themes that have been inspired by Sherman Cymru’s Christmas production, Arabian Nights.

You don’t need any previous experience, just come along and try it out.

The first session on Thursday, September 25, will be a taster at 6pm. After this rehearsals will take place every week from October 2 until December 4 on Thursdays between 6-8pm at Sherman Theatre. These sessions will cost just £1.50 each. The session on October 2 will be a part of Age Positivity Week.

The Sherman Choir is supported by the BIG Lottery.
