HARDY swimmers and runners are invited to sign up for Barry Island’s first Aquathon event which will see competitors battle the waves before a run.
Competitors will face a 650m swim in the sea off Whitmore Bay, followed by a five kilometre run along the promenade during the event on Sunday, September 28.
100 places are available and deadline for entry is September 19.
Athletes must be a minimum of 18 years of age with parental consent granted for anyone between 16 and 17.
The first man and woman will gain a trophy.
Swimmers take the plunge at 9.15am and wetsuits are compulsory until the transition area on the eastern side of Whitmore Bay.
The swimmers-turned-runners will then head between both headlands.
