VALE MP Alun Cairns joined local cricketers for an open day at Barry Athletic Cricket Club recently. The annual open day was attended by a large number of former players and captains, and the wider community.
Mr Cairns attended as a guest Mark Rees from the club and watched a number overs bowled against rivals Creigiau.
A fundraising race night was held after the match at Paget Road, Barry Island .
Vale MP Alun said: “It was a very enjoyable way to spend an afternoon watching the cricket in Barry. There were some very impressive examples of technique on display, and it was great to see so many former players and locals at the match.
“Like all local sports clubs, it is the volunteers that make the club a part of the community and I was delighted to meet so many locals passionate about the game of cricket in Barry and the Vale.”
