ONCE again the Vale of Glamorgan’s schools have produced outstanding results, this time at GCSE level.

Councillor Chris Elmore, Cabinet Member for Children’s Services, said: "The Vale’s GCSE results this year show a notable improvement which is testament to the hard work of pupils and staff."

Entries have decreased marginally by 248 to 12660 this year. At A and A* grade pupils are 1.2 per cent higher than last year's performance.

More than one in five of GCSE exam entries results in an A* or A grade whilst 70.9 per cent of all entries result in an A* to C grade.

This is an increase of 3.9 per cent compared to last year. There has been an increase in A* to G grade passes, which are 98.8 per cent this year, an increase of 0.7 per cent compared to last year.

All figures are percentages and based on WJEC entries only. Some Vale Schools may use other examination boards and so final GCSE Level performance figures may change.
