TRADESMEN of Barry, put down your hammer, turn off your drill, as this year’s Britain’s Top Tradesman competition from Screwfix has launched in Wales.

Screwfix, which has a store on the Ty Verlon Industrial Estate on Cardiff Road, Barry is launching its annual competition to find and recognise the brilliant builders, exceptional electricians, helpful handymen and perfect plumbers that keep the UK’s homes and businesses in top condition.

Not only will this year’s worthy winner carry the title that will transform their business - but they will also win the keys to a brand new £27,000 Toyota van.

John Mewett, marketing director at Screwfix, said: “We run this competition to reward quality tradesmen and to celebrate their success.

"The regional rounds of BTT enable people working in the trade to meet up, share ideas and tell us about what’s happening on the ground.

"It’s the fifth year we have run this competition, and the calibre of entries improves every year. We are looking forward to meeting and rewarding those tradesmen who go that extra mile.

"This year’s winner will receive a Toyota van and the title of Britain’s Top Tradesman 2014, so it’s well worth taking the time to fill out the easy application form.”

Entries to BTT are open until September 14, with regional finalists going head to head in October. The national final will be in November, with the overall winner being named Britain’s Top Tradesman 2014.
