THE 18th "Open Gardens Trail" in Penarth, was extremely successful, yet again, attracting visitors from Barry and all over the Vale.

The event has raised just under £5,000 for The Children’s Society.

The weekend event was blessed with glorious summer sunshine on both days, which brought the visitors from far and wide.

Ann Lush, honorary vice president of the Children’s Society UK and chairman of the Penarth committee thanked all the garden owners for their generosity in opening their gardens including, Mr/Mrs Starling, Miss Hazel Dickson, M/s Diana Mead, Mr/Mrs Declan O’Docherty, Mr/Mrs Jon Dewis, Miss Freda Welch Mr and Mrs Rob Edwards and not forgetting all those involved with the Sully Terrace Allotments.

There were 14 raffle prizes all of which have been delivered to the winners.

Ann said: "A big thank you to Knight Print, for their generosity at this time and to the Penarth Times for its advanced publicity for this very popular event.
