A COMMUNITY garden which received a donation of 100 saplings in March this year has won a competition for a photograph of its tree-planting event.

Barry Community Garden & Allotment garden manager Lisa Williams, submitted a photograph taken by her sister Charlene Dixon, and the image won third place.

Charlene’s photograph claimed praise from competition organisers The Woodland Trust, who also donated the saplings to the site on Dyfnallt Road, in Gibbonsdown.

Lisa said: “I was lucky enough to get my sister to come and take some great photos as she has just completed a photography degree.

“Sadly there is no prize for third place but it was lovely to get this and it'll shortly be posted on the Woodland Trust Facebook page.”
