Coastwatch open day

First published in News by

NATIONAL institution will marks its 20th anniversary with an open day held at Barry Island on Sunday, August 10.

The National Coastwatch Institution opened its first station at Bass Point, Cornwall in 1994 and following years of sea and coastal surveillance a number of other stations have been opened with the 50th opening this year.

The number of incidents is currently up on previous years, but volunteers at the registered charity will maintain a vigilant watch along our coastline and out to sea for the remainder of the season and beyond.

The local National Coastwatch Station, Nell's Point, Barry Island, will hold its annual open day on Sunday, August 10.

Volunteers will welcome visitors inside the station to view the newly refurbished exhibition room with conducted tours to the lookout taking place throughout the day.

Refreshments will be available.
